The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Garland, Texas unit will host its 26th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. parade and march on Saturday, January 17, 2015, beginning at 10 a.m. The parade begins near Embree Park on Dairy Road and ends at the Granville Arts Center in Downtown Garland. The celebration continues with an MLK Commemorative Program in the Granville Arts Center, 300 N. 5th Street, downtown Garland, immediately following the parade and march. Garland’s massive MLK Communitywide Youth Choir led by clinician Reuben Lael Griffin and the St. Luke AME Puppet Ministry led by Ms. Beatrice Mosley will both perform. The following day, youth groups from area churches will showcase their spiritual talents in praise dance, step routines and military style drills on Sunday afternoon at the Granville Arts Center beginning at 4:00 P.M. Admission is free and the Garland MLK youth extravaganza is open to the public.
